Muscle stimulation is a physical therapy procedure in which gentle electrical impulses activate deep muscle layers, helping to improve muscle tone and sculpt the body’s contours. This method gently enhances the body’s contours, giving it a more toned and harmonious appearance without the need for physical exercise.
Muscle Stimulation (Myostimulation) is a physiotherapeutic treatment designed to strengthen specific muscle groups and contour the body. Originally, the technique was used in medical rehabilitation to prevent muscle atrophy in sedentary or paralyzed patients.
Later, the technology was adopted in space programs to maintain muscle mass in zero-gravity conditions. Today, muscle stimulation is a sought-after procedure in aesthetic clinics: women value it for its lifting and body-shaping effects, while men use it to increase muscle volume and improve definition.
How does the procedure work?
A shower is recommended before the session to ensure the skin is clean. A conductive gel is applied to the skin to help electric impulses travel smoothly from the electrodes to the muscles. Alternatively, active ampoule concentrates can be used; in this case, the current helps the active ingredients penetrate deep into the dermis (iontophoresis), where they continue to improve skin quality even after the session.
Electrodes are placed on the skin over target muscle groups and secured with elastic straps. The specialist turns on the device and selects an appropriate program. The intensity is adjusted based on the patient’s feedback: muscle contractions should be powerful and distinct but painless. Sufficient workload is the key to visible results.
At the end of the procedure, the device is turned off, the electrodes are removed, and the skin is cleansed of the gel. If necessary, a finishing moisturizing or firming cream is applied.

FAQ
Can women undergo muscle stimulation treatments during their menstrual period?
If the electrical stimulation treatment is intended to maintain good abdominal muscle tone, do not stimulate the lower abdomen during your menstrual period.
Should lotions or creams be applied to the skin before the procedure?
If lotions or creams are applied to the body for the purpose of a light massage to promote stimulation of microcirculation in the skin and subcutaneous tissues, this is acceptable. However, before the electrostimulation procedure, thoroughly remove any lotion or cream from the skin with a damp cloth to ensure good contact between the skin and the electrodes.
