    What is a pyruvic peel?

A pyruvic acid-based peel. Pyruvic acid is a highly lipophilic keto acid, which gives it a strong ability to penetrate the skin. It is classified as an active exfoliant and promotes the controlled removal of dead skin cells by coagulating the proteins in the cell structures.

When applied to the skin, pyruvic acid undergoes partial hydrolysis and is converted into lactic acid. Lactic acid belongs to the group of AHA acids and has bacteriostatic, sebostatic, and comedolytic effects, as well as promoting intensive skin hydration.

Thanks to the dual mechanism of action—of both pyruvic and lactic acids—the procedure has a comprehensive effect on the skin’s condition, combining pronounced renewal with skin-care properties.

The use of different concentrations of pyruvic acid allows for adjusting the depth of the peel’s effect and targeting different layers of the skin depending on aesthetic goals, skin condition, and the patient’s age.
